AHIF Presents the E. John and Cleo Rumpakis Library
It is with great pleasure and pride that the American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) announces the opening of the E. John and Cleo Rumpakis Library. With the inauguration of this library, AHIF and its patrons continue to demonstrate a profound desire to promote not only the rule of law in the Eastern Mediterranean, positive relations between the United States, Cyprus, and Greece, but also public education on these crucial matters. To that end, the E. John and Cleo Rumpakis Library boasts a vast array of source materials that enables researchers to construct a holistic picture of the events that have transpired in the Eastern Mediterranean, especially over the last half of the twentieth century, including the policy responses from the United States and other nations.
Regrettably and far too often, key issues, such as the illegal Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, are lost in the historiography of American Foreign Relations. The library at the American Hellenic Institute aims to rectify such omissions, and others, from the historical record by providing easy access not only to books but also publications by the Greek and Cypriot governments and many other sources often overlooked that will assist visitors in developing a nuanced assessment of the geopolitics in the Eastern Mediterranean.
With that, the entire AHIF family as well as its patrons and benefactors would like to warmly welcome scholars and interested parties to explore the collection and by extension join us in our effort to promote the rule of law in the Eastern Mediterranean and positive foreign relations between the United States, Greece, and Cyprus. The following link will take users to our online database which details all of the books and special collections in our holdings.
